Matthew Comer, MS, BCC, NCPT, is a movement educator, mentor, and Board Certified Coach with more than 25 years of experience in Pilates, movement education, fitness, and professional development.
Originally from Virginia, Matthew trained as a dancer in New York City before earning his Master of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy from Hunter College, City University of New York. His background in movement therapy, coaching, fitness, and teacher education informs an approach centered on observation-informed teaching, movement understanding, and practical application.
Throughout his career, Matthew has worked extensively in both fitness and Pilates education, helping instructors strengthen observation skills, improve communication, refine session planning, and teach with greater confidence and intention. He later joined Club Pilates as a Master Trainer and education consultant, contributing to instructor training, educational programming, and national teacher training initiatives.
Matthew has presented at major fitness and movement conferences including IDEA World, IDEA Personal Trainer Conference, CanFitPro, and the East Coast Alliance. His educational topics have included Pilates, anatomy, biomechanics, post-rehabilitation exercise, and movement analysis.
His continuing education workshops and mentorship experiences are designed to help Pilates professionals strengthen movement observation skills, refine teaching strategies, and develop a more thoughtful and adaptable approach to movement education.
