I’m Certified…Now What?

A Four-Month Mentorship for Pilates Instructors Who Have Recently Completed Teacher Training

You completed your teacher training. You learned the exercises, practiced teaching, and earned your certificate of completion.

And then you started teaching.

That’s when different questions began to emerge.

How do I know what this person needs today? What about that cue worked for one client and not another? When should I change the plan? What am I actually seeing when I watch someone move?

I’m Certified…Now What? is a four-month mentorship designed for this stage of your development—not to give you more exercises to memorize, but to develop the observation, reflection, professional judgment, and decision-making that shape how you teach.

Certificate of Completion Was the Beginning

Teacher training gives you a foundation. Teaching asks you to learn how to use it.

Over four months, we’ll examine the decisions you make in real teaching situations—what you notice, what you choose, why you choose it, and what happens next. You’ll develop a teaching practice that is thoughtful, adaptable, and increasingly your own.

What We'll Work On

This mentorship is centered on the real decisions you make as a teacher. Over four months, we’ll use your teaching experiences as the starting point for developing greater awareness, adaptability, and professional judgment.

We will focus on:

  • Observation — learning to see more clearly before deciding what to do.
  • Decision-Making — understanding why you choose an exercise, cue, modification, or progression.
  • Programming — moving beyond a predetermined plan and responding to the person in front of you.
  • Cueing & Communication — becoming more intentional about what you say, when you say it, and why.
  • Reflection — examining your teaching experiences and learning from the decisions you make.
  • Professional Development — beginning to define the kind of Pilates teacher you want to become.

How this Mentorship Works

The program includes:

  • Eight live mentorship sessions, held every other week
  • 60 -minute sessions, keeping the conversations focused and practical
  • A small-group format so there is time for individual questions, discussion, and shared learning
  • Between-session reflection and application, using what is happening in your actual teaching as the material for our work
  • Eight sessions that build on one another, moving from observation and decision-making toward greater independence and professional judgment
  • NCPT continuing education credit for eligible participants

You teach between sessions, bring back what you noticed and questioned, and we use those experiences to guide the next conversation.

This Mentorship May Be Right for You If…

  • You have recently completed Pilates teacher training and are beginning to put that training into practice.
  • You are actively teaching and finding that real clients are raising questions your teacher training couldn’t fully answer.
  • You want to become better at observing, thinking, and making informed teaching decisions—not simply collect more exercises.
  • You are willing to examine your own teaching, including the choices that didn’t work as well as you hoped.
  • You are comfortable asking questions and being part of thoughtful discussion with other instructors.
  • You are prepared to participate fully, reflect between sessions, and bring your real teaching experiences back into the mentorship.
  • You want a mentor who will challenge your thinking rather than simply tell you what to do.

This Mentorship Is Probably Not the Right Fit If…

  • You are looking primarily for more exercises, repertoire, or choreography.
  • You want someone to give you a formula for exactly what to teach every client.
  • You are looking for preparation or coaching for the NCPT certification exam.
  • You are not currently in a position to apply what we’re discussing to your teaching.
  • You are looking for passive continuing education rather than active participation, reflection, and discussion.
  • You want validation of the way you already teach but aren’t particularly interested in examining or questioning it.
  • You aren’t able to commit to the preparation, participation, reflection, and between-session work the mentorship requires
